Ancient Annals of the Dragon

Origins in the First Age

Legend says the first dragons were born not from eggs, but from the embers of stars that fell to the earth during the great splitting of the sky. For generations, they ruled alongside the early elven lords. They are creatures of profound intellect, capable of speech that sounds like grinding tectonic plates and roaring thunder.

The Golden Hoard

Dragons suffer from a peculiar affliction: an unyielding desire for gold and precious gems. It is not out of greed in the mortal sense, but because the radiant energy of such metals sustains their immense magical cores. A dragon without a hoard will inevitably fade into stone.

Throughout history, entire kingdoms have been leveled just so a dragon might claim a solitary, legendary ruby. Thus, men have learned to leave offerings at the mouths of the crimson caves, praying for mercy from the beast within.
